Introduction

What will happen if your content is not formatted properly to enhance its readability for your online as well as offline audience?

They will not read your content and you will not be able to achieve success through your content marketing campaign. You must design the content whether it is online or offline so that it is easy to read.

Now the question arises why the content you write should be easy to read?

Here in this article, we will discuss seven easy-to-implement content writing design tips to enhance the reading experience of your readers.

The tips mentioned in this article can be applied to both online and offline projects.

Give Attention to Line Spacing

Give attention to the inter-line spacing to make the reading experience stress-free for your readers. Enough white space should be provided above and below every line. It will make the words easily recognizable and give rest to your readers’ eyes.

Limit the use of Uppercase

Writing headings, subheadings, or any sentence in all capitals slows down the reading speed of your readers. They are not able to recognize word shapes as all look similar.

For example, WHAT IS CONTENT WRITING?

Font Size and Type

Font size: Small font size is hard to read. Use a big font size. Check some of your favorite blogs and then decide what will work best for your readers.

Font type: Use sans-serif fonts (fonts without tiny tails at the start of each letter, such as in Times New Roma). It is easier to read text written using fonts from this font family, such as Arial.

Use Short Subheadings

Use only limited words in your subheadings and write in not more than one line. This will create curiosity among your readers to read the text describing it.

Write Short Sentences and Paragraphs

Break text into small chunks to avoid your reader getting exhausted while reading.

If you write long sentences or paragraphs, then your readers’ eyes have to move continuously from one end to another across the page without any pause. Also, sometimes they might forget the real concept you want to explain and they again have to read the entire sentence.

So, write short paragraphs of one, two, or three lines per paragraph and leave a line after every paragraph.

Good use of Images and Videos

Do not break your readers reading rhythm. Today most of the readers do not read completely, they scan the written content.

If you insert too many images or videos in between your text it will interrupt the scanning rate of your readers. It is also possible they leave your site without scrolling till the end.

This will lead to increased bounce rate and low engagement.

So, make good use of images to draw your readers’ attention and not to distract them.

Create Contrast

You can keep your readers engaged with your content by adding contrast in the text.

Here are a few ways in which you can create contrast on your blog:

  • You can write headings and subheadings in large font sizes as compared to text in paragraphs. Also, make them bold to stand out from the rest of the text.
  • Do not overuse bold text. Use it only to highlight important points otherwise, it will lose its importance.
  • Create contrast between background color and text. So, that the text is easy to read. If you do not like white background, try light grey.

Conclusion

Focus on the layout of your blog post, format, and edit it to make it easier for people to scan.

If you already have written something, you can repost it after making the necessary changes discussed in this article. There is no requirement to change the content. Only format it and share to check whether you get more visitors than the first time.
