Hi Sir

Day before yesterday, we had a session where we discussed about how to attract clients! And there was a point about click baits. I would like to know about this.

Clickbait is an attractive headline, text, image, or video link. It is designed in a way to attract readers to click that link and view, read, or listen to the linked content. But, most of the time, the actual content is deceptive and misleading.

The only purpose of these websites is to get more clicks and earn ad revenue.

But, if used appropriately, it can grab your readers’ attention and helps in online branding.

Advantages of clickbait, if used properly:

  • It evokes the interest of the readers to click, and enter the link.
  • It increases your search engine results page (SERPs) ranking.
  • Your traffic increases due to increased click-through rate (CTR).
  • It helps in getting your article, video, or social media post viral.

Disadvantages when used to mislead your audience:

  • Readers’ expectation increases about the content. It can lead to dissatisfaction among your audience if your content is not in sync with the sensational clickable link you have created.
  • Fake headlines or content can harm your online authority.
  • Your website bounce rate can increase which harms your search rankings.

Conclusion

Nowadays there is an overuse of clickbait everywhere. But, if used genuinely, it is an effective method to gain more clicks, visitors, and revenue from your website.
