Communication skills are one of the human skills. It is a fact that people spend 70-80 percent of their time communicating with others. Communication takes place when one person conveys information and ideas to another person. There is communication when you talk, read and listen to someone. Communication skills will help in almost all the aspects of life like, from professional, financial, spiritual, social gatherings to personal growth. For example, if you read a book, its author communicates with you.

Purpose of Communication skills:

  • It fosters trust with others.
  • It prevents conflicts and problems.
  • It provides clarity of thoughts and direction to the people.
  • It creates better relationships with others by exchanging ideas.
  • It improves the productivity of the individual.

  1. Read: Reading is a wonderful activity to improve the skills. There are a lot of things that we come across while reading like vocabulary, subject-verb agreement, typo errors, fragment sentences. It is suggested to read newspapers, magazines, specialized journals, and self-help books.
  2. Listen: There is an immense need to listen attentively to others’ ideas. Listening doesn’t only mean hearing someone’s ideas, but getting the sense of what the other person is feeling. What they want to express more than their words is all about listening intently. We need to focus on the unspoken words and tones of the person that may or may not be significant. There are a lot of things to improve your listening skills like listening to audiobooks and podcasts from native English speakers. There are few tips to improve the listening skills are to maintain eye contact, show interest in other person’s conversation, nod in relating to the person’s views, concentrate, and ask questions related to the person’s talk.
  3. Write: Writing is a wonderful tip to improve communication skills. Writers and authors convey their ideas and thoughts through their writing. Writers usually spend their time writing on social media, blogs, and other posts. But this doesn’t mean that writing skills confined to writers and authors only. Everyone can master this skill with practice. The fundamental key to communication is the ability to write clearly and effectively.
  4. Watch: Communication takes place when we watch English films, cartoons, and International news documentaries. When communication takes place in a visual format, it grabs the attention of the audience. The visual information should be attention-grabbing as the attention span of the audience is very less. To keep them engaged the content of visuals should be strong and impressive.
  5. Speak: All of us convey ideas and information through speaking. We used to interact with other people and convey our message. Speaking skills allow us to communicate our message effectively. Speaking skills improve our vocabulary and enhance our pronunciation. It helps to form a connection with the world. Without communication skills, success in this world is nearly impossible.
  6. Experiment: This is the best method to improve communication skills. Experiments allow us to make mistakes. There is a need to use and learn new words daily.
  7. Believe: Everything is possible once you believe in yourself. There is much more in you than the English Language. There is a need to realize that you have something to give and it will make a difference in the world. Believe that you have some unique talents and abilities that are valuable to others.
  8. Don’t be fake: There is a need to be original, genuine, and natural. Never put on an accent while communicating. Your natural vibes of speaking and communicating will express your real views and not the fake ones.
  9. Practice: Practice is the first and foremost mantra to improve communication skills. There is a famous quote that Practice makes a man perfect. There is a need to practice daily on all the above-given tips to improve skills. This is not a matter of one day or night. It requires a lot of dedication and practice to become a communication pro.

How Power of Calmness Will Boost Your Mind?

How calmness is a superpower?  How do you master the calmness? How it boosts the mind? If all these questions are wavering in your mind, then you have a great need to calm your mind. Let’s read something unique about calmness.

We all are rushing in the world from here to there, or switching our mind from one application to another application of mobile or laptop. From morning to late night, our mind races with various thoughts and ideas. Calmness in simple words is a state of being calm. When your mind will be quiet you will feel more positive and energetic. Being in a state of calm will make you enduring, optimistic, creative, and enthusiastic.

Here are my tried ways to calm the mind:

  1. Try visualization or meditation: Regular meditation will strengthen the mind. Meditation has changed my mind to such an extent that even in case of turbulent situations I stay calm and react positively. It will relax the mind to focus on the body. Visualization is also a calming technique to focus your energy on the things that you want to achieve. What you will visualize, you will attract in your life.
  2. Take a shower: For quick calm, you can take a warm water shower to relax your mind. It is a therapy to be applied at any time of the day. Even while bathing, you can focus on breathing.
  3. Write down your thoughts: There is an immense need to write down the thoughts about what are you feeling, what thoughts are disturbing you for a long time. Write them down in a journal. It is known as journaling and it is suggested for all to keep your mind calm. Even writing a gratitude journal is the best way to boost your mind.
  4. Talk to some like-minded people: Sharing your problems with like-minded people will relax your mind and you will get a good piece of advice from them. If you have some supporting friends in life then you are the luckiest person in the world.
  5. Live in the present: It is very important to leave the baggage of past worries and enjoy the present to create beautiful memories for the future. Always remember that you can’t change your past but can create a better future. Enjoy the day as it comes with full energy. Live in your present as it is your last day.
  6. Listen to motivational podcasts: It is a very powerful tool to calm your mind. You can listen to motivational podcasts during your travel time in the morning and evening. It will relax your mind and boost energy to start your day with more power,
  7. Allow yourself the Me-time: It is very difficult to allocate me-time in the busiest hours. Once a week you can go to a spa to relax yourselves. It may impact your pocket but you can follow the other techniques like giving massage and oiling your hairs at home.
  8. Plan a healthy meal: it is another method to calm your mind. Having your favourite dish can satisfy you. The human body always enjoys eating good foods. Sometimes a plate of Rasgullas (sweet dish) can boost your mind and cheer your mood to a great extent.
  9. Adequate sleep: Sleep is the best remedy to calm your mind. But if you are tossing on the bed then don’t stick to it. Just get up and have a shower. It will relax your body and mind. Eight hours of sleep can determine your mood for the next day. It is recommended to switch off all the electronic gadgets two hours before sleep.
  10. Go outside alone to enjoy nature: There is great vibration in our beautiful universe. The chirping sound of birds will soothe your mind. Sometimes, a fresh breeze is enough to change our minds.
  11. Stop comparing yourself with others: It is the foremost reason behind the negative thoughts in our minds. It is advised to stop comparing yourself with others. All are the unique creation of God. You must notice that all the fingers of our hands are not equal but still, they have a unique role to play. Nobody can deny this fact.
  12. Focus on your breathing: Breathing is the ultimate activity of the human body. There is a need to focus on slow and deep breathing when you are in some turbulent situations. Use your belly to breathe. Even to improve communication skills, belly breathing is recommended.
  13. Don’t try to please others: Last but not least, never try to please all the surrounding people. If they love you they will accept you as you are. Otherwise, they are not important to you.

To conclude, calmness is the state of stay strong whatever your life throws at you.
