The Only Three Things You Need To Do To Achieve Your Goals

Do you truly want to set goals and feel the thrill of achieving them?

But do you also believe that setting goals is tough? Achieving them is even tougher.

But not anymore.

In a previous article, we learnt why goals are important and how everyone should have one regardless of their station in life.

Before we start with setting goals, we need to get clear on the aspects of life that matter – Health, Finance, Relationships, and Spirituality.  You might have a different way of looking at it. Doesn’t matter. Go for it! Just ensure that it covers all the key areas of your life.

One important understanding is that unless the goal is in alignment with one’s higher purpose and values, the chances of achieving it are slim.

  • So you have your higher purpose and
  • the supporting values and beliefs.
  • out of these emerge the habits and actions
  • that then help translate your higher purpose into reality
  • thus your goals see fruition.

In this article, we will look at all the supporting beliefs, habits, actions that you need to cultivate.

#1 Inject Life and Emotion Into Your Goal

Start with writing it down in your diary/journal in great detail. It might not be perfect.

Nevertheless write down what this goal means to you, what it means to your deepest self, how it will transform your life, what it might mean to those closest to you, how proud your parents, spouse, or children might feel. Try to see the smile on their faces, the look of pride and approval.

Make this more exciting by visualizing the awards and appreciation that come your way. You should feel the excitement in your cells and down to your very bones.

Now you have created your own movie – MY SUCCESS. Play this in your mind’s eye frequently. Also, write it down in several places including your journal – book or a digital version.

The more emotionally connected you are to your goal, the more motivated you will be, and the more you will stick to the process of making it happen.

“Thinking of the purpose helps keeps the big picture in mind and focussing on the actions helps keeps the small picture in mind.”

# 2 Plans, Actions, and Habits

Now it is time to get down to the nitty-gritty.

Suppose you are looking at losing 12 kgs in a year’s time. So first you come up with a plan- 1 kg weight loss in a month.

This entails work on a number of levels. You might have to eat healthy, delete some foods from your diet, include others, follow an exercise regimen, read books or consult a Dr and follow the prescribed diet plan. There are the actions.

Now you have come up with the supportive habits- morning walk for 30 minutes, breakfast plan, have 10 glasses of water in a day, etc. You are effectively converting the actions into habits.

Pro Tips :

  • Make the process interesting and fun by including activities that you enjoy. If you enjoy Zumba, then include it three days a week as your exercise plan. You will stick to it.
  • Start small. Don’t start with a 45-minute workout. You might never get around to doing it. Initially start with a 10-minute workout and slowly ramp up. You will get into the habit and will find it easier to do than not to do.

‘Make it Fun and Keep it Simple.’

# 3 Track it Down

The next vital is to track and measure it. Different people have different approaches to this. Most go for a yearly appraisal of their goals. Quite not as effective. This makes people procrastinate because it is a year away and then the goal is all but forgotten.

Like in our previous example of weight loss, it is better to track things on a  weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis. Monthly so as to course correct and quarterly to see any significant progress in goal attainment. And weekly so that you can tweak and retweak the activities and ensure that you are on target.

When you are tracking quarterly, every quarter seems like a fresh start. So even if you have fared poorly in the last quarter, you can make up in the coming quarter. Much like the seasons. You get a fresh start 4 times a year and will find it easier to stick it through and make it happen.

Pro Tips:

  • Track your monthly and quarterly progress in a journal or a spreadsheet or a document. Choose what suits you but document it.
  • Also, add in all those incidents when you surprised yourself by pulling off something that you never thought possible. Moments of self-discovery, small victories. Remember to pat your back. Celebrate the victories, big and small.

‘Track Weekly, Monthly and Quarterly.’

Goal setting is vital. But following through and achieving them even more so. Make it easy by following the three steps outlined above-

* Inject emotion into the goal.

* Create the supporting plans, actions, and habits and make the process fun and simple.

* Finally track it on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis.

That’s all there is to it. Get down to it today.

The Key Reasons Why People Fail At their Goals And How To Fix It

Goals are remarkable things and can take us to new destinations which we have been dreaming of. In the process, we can also become better people. That is if we manage to achieve them. But alas! A  large percentage of the population set goals at the beginning of the year only to break it by the third week of January, so the research says.

That is quite sad considering that setting goals and achieving goals is not as hard or as unattainable as it is made out to be.

Curiosity made me research on the topic and this is what I discovered –

1. No Emotional Connect with the Goal ______

This seems so obvious. Unless you feel a strong emotional connection with the goal, you will not feel driven to see it through to the very end. You might just give up midway. But why would someone set a goal that doesn’t emotionally connect with them?

One of the key reasons is the influence of peers and pressure from social media. You see someone having what looks like a great lifestyle and you try to emulate it, without having any background information and how does it connect with your lifestyle and your higher purpose.

The moral of the story is that your goal should resonate deeply with you. You should have strong personal reasons to want to make it happen. A father who wants to quit smoking because he wants to be around for his daughter’s wedding is sure to reach his goal. One look at his innocent daughter’s face and he is fired for the day.

2. Goal overwhelm___________

It is natural to have a few goals- related to money, family & friends, health. But supposing in each category, you have multiple goals and no clear plan. This will lead you down the road to burnout.

Eventually, the balancing act of managing all the different categories of goals will lead to total abandonment of the goals.

This can of course be avoided by doing one of two things.

-Having one goal in each category

-Having a clear plan and finding a connection between goals. As an e.g., you have decided to spend an hour with your children and you have a fitness goal that requires you to allot one hour for exercise. How do you balance both? Three times a week, take the kids to the park and rigorously play with them fulfilling both the goals.

3. Goal not on paper____________

Manish has a goal to make a six-figure income by the end of the year. But he has no concrete plans as to how to go about it. He has some vague ideas, but nothing on paper. He fantasizes about his goals. Makes you want to ask, is he even serious about his goal?

A business coach would assert that a goal not written down does not even deserve to be called a goal. It is simply a dream. A goal can be materialized only if one has concrete plans. Also one needs to have the discipline to cultivate beneficial habits and a detailed activity plan.

4. Too big goals and too small ones____________

With big goals, there is a sense of overwhelm which halts progress. There are people who find themselves motivated with big goals but then there are others who find it tough to even visualize the possibility. That keeps them from even taking the first step. That is understandable.

But what can be the problem with small goals? If the goals are too small, one tends to get complacent. This leads to procrastination, thinking that one can always do it later and finally..nothing. Like the hare which was overconfident over its race with the tortoise, only to finally lose it.

5. Are you monitoring your goals?____________

Goals need to be monitored on a regular basis. The performance needs to be evaluated. For this purpose, you need to create a spreadsheet.

Most people choose to evaluate their goals yearly. What a big mistake it turns out to be? A year is too long away to get you to take action. That is the reason a whole lot of people fail.

A quarterly plan is ideal as you get 12 weeks to work on your goal which is the optimum amount of time, neither too spread out nor too short to getting anything significant done.

Is that enough? No. When you track the goals on a weekly basis, you can make up for any incomplete tasks in the coming week. So even if life does get in the way, something unexpected happens you can still balance it out.

For eg., if you are planning to lose 12 kgs this year, that means you have to lose 1 kg in a month, and weekly it is 250gms. Seen this way, the goal seems achievable.

The reason people fail with their goal is that they don’t have an

* emotional connect tying the goal to something bigger,

* they don’t put it on paper

* they fail to have plans to materialize it

* they get overwhelmed with the number of goals

* they have either too small or too big goals and

* finally they don’t have an effective monitoring system

Just do the opposite and you will have every reason to smile.

Happy goal setting! Happy goal-achieving !!

Do you have a goal in life? Have you ever thought of achieving your goals? Do you follow any rules to fulfil your goals? Are you focused enough to reach the goal? Are you speechless when somebody talks about their goals? Do not worry, this article will help you set your goals and achieve them.

Introduction:

I know that how difficult it is to set a goal for life and achieve them with no challenges. Life is full of challenges and it gets piled up when you want things to happen in your way. So, never feel stressed and lose hope in your future accomplishments. Try these 7 golden rules to set your goals and achieve success in life. So, come on let us travel together on the journey of goal-setting for life and reach great heights.

Step #1:  Set your life goals

Decide on what you want in life and what you have always dreamed of. Goals may be big or small but it should make you excited whenever you think about. It should motivate you to become passionate to reach the goals. Your goals may be life goals, financial goals, personal goals, spiritual goals, or any other. The progression to reach the goal may be easy or difficult, but the success of the goals will be blissful.

Set your goals to involve yourself, strive hard, have determination, and work with dedication. It is very important to fix deadlines to reach your goal. A goal without a deadline is like an exam without time limits. Read the previous sentence again and analyze its meaning.

Step #2: Read it daily

Write your goals on a sheet of paper and read them daily. If you want to achieve something, then always think about it. Motivate yourself and list the goals one by one based on their priorities. This will help you create a bond with your goals. Writing and reading the goals daily cheers you and gives you the energy and confidence to soon achieve the purpose. It will also help you get focus and clarity about the steps you are taking to reach the goal. Writing the goal should be specific and to the point. The goal should have a timescale, which gives a sense of satisfaction when you fulfil it.

Step #3: Talk about your goals

Setting smaller goals makes us execute our plan easily and gives a sense of satisfaction to us. Talking about your goals with your friends and family will make you feel great and also you will get suggestions to improvise your plans.

It will also help you focus on achieving your goal because your well-wishers are aware of your goals and the means to achieve them. If you are getting diverted from your goals, then they will surely remind you and bring you back on the right track.

Step #4: Plan your path to achieve the goal

Always plan and complete the goals on the right path. For planning, you must have answers for where to start from, how to move on, and where you can get help. Have a perfect clarity of your goals, so your mind and brain work consciously to achieve them. Things like setting small or big goals, accountability of goals, and deadlines to accomplish those goals have to be planned to achieve them.

Step #5: Move step-by-step towards achieving

Always think about your goals and the means to achieve them. Split your goals into long-term and short-term goals. You cannot reach your long-term goal in a single day. If you have long-term or lifetime goals to achieve then, plan well and make short-term goals to reach them. Even to achieve short-term goals, you have to organize and do a lot of hard work. Remember that moving step-by-step towards achieving your goal will help you understand if you have chosen the right path.

Step #6: Be positive and keep moving forward in life

You may experience a lot of challenges and constraints to reach your goal. During all those hard times you should never get demotivated or depressed, instead wear a smile on your face and be brave at heart. Having a positive attitude towards failure makes you a unique person.

Hope you have heard about a famous quote that says “Failure is the stepping stone for success” you have to follow it. Failures are the experiences that add a lesson to your life and make you stronger. With these experiences, you will find new opportunities and paths to reach your goal.

Step #7: Celebrate your Success

A life of a person without a goal is like a journey without a destination. It is very important to celebrate your success after reaching the goal. The celebration time will create opportunities for you to be thankful to people who helped you to achieve your goal. You can share your happiness with the dear ones.

Conclusion:

I hope that in this article I have provided complete insight on how to set your lifetime goals, how to stay focused, and achieve them without losing hope. If you understand these 7 golden rules and bring them to action, in the same way, I am sure that you will reach your goals with no obstacles.

Self-Study Plan to Clear Various Competitive Exams In First Attempt

Are you planning to take competitive exams without coaching? Are you worried about the possibility to score more marks in self-study? Do you have questions on preparation and resource to get the study material? If the answers to these questions are yes, then you are checking the right article.

Introduction:

Most of the students, after completing their graduation, opt for competitive exams because having a job in government bodies ensures job security throughout life. Many think that self-study is not possible and take coaching classes. But in this situation of a pandemic, it is not safe to go for offline classes and self-study is the best option.

There are many upcoming competitive examinations and thousands of candidates will try their luck by writing exams for various positions in government sectors like banking, railways, SSC, and more. Well, candidates can clear any competitive exam with a reliable self-study plan and smart-study methods with no coaching. In this article, you will get all the tips and tricks on how to prepare a self-study plan for competitive exams.

The clarity in Choosing a Career in Government Sector

Selecting the proper exam to secure jobs in the government sector is very important. You should be clear when you are choosing the government sector over the private sector. Even a minor hindrance or confusion on your choice will not support you to focus on the exam. Self-motivation, determination, and a cool mind will help you to achieve your goals.

Prepare a Realistic Plan that Works

A realistic plan will help to prepare for the exam with no stress. The plan which works for somebody else might not work for you. So you must understand your daily routine and plan the study timings that you can manage. See whether you can study in the morning or late at night and just go ahead whichever is suitable.

Dedication and Hard work

Right preparation with hard work gives a positive result. So plan your timetable and stick to it sitting at the same time in the same place will improve your concentration. But remember, dedication and hard work are the key features to achieve the desired result. Engage yourself and move on the right path. Crack the competitive exam with a cool mind.

Self-Study is the secret of many toppers

You can check the interviews of toppers you have completed their competitive exams with the self-study mantra rather than choosing the coaching institute. They have always focused on the thought to score high marks. So it is possible to self-study at home if you practice and learn the problem-solving technique with precision. Understand the academic strategy and make plans to get through the bank exams or any competitive exams.

These are the few things that are required to prepare your mindset and stand on your toe to run in the race of competitive exams. You also need to focus on good health habits to stay fit and fine. A healthy mind and a healthy body can take care of all the challenges.

Tips to Self-Study at home and clear the competitive exams

Candidates can follow the below-mentioned tips and crack the exam on the very first attempt.

  1. Understand the syllabus and exam pattern.
  2. Prepare a Time Table and Complete the Syllabus Topic-wise
  3. Make use of online study materials
  4. Practise and Attempt the Mock Test Series
  5. Solve Previous Year Question Papers

Tip #1: Understand the syllabus and exam pattern

Almost all the banks and other sectors follow a similar pattern for the selection of candidates. Initially, they conduct written exams in prelims and mains. Later, a personal interview and final selection formalities.

The prelims or paper 1 will be conducted as the first stage of the selection process to see the overall preparation of the candidates. All government sector jobs have a similar syllabus and it usually includes English/ Hindi language, reasoning ability, numerical ability as their syllabus.

English Language, General/ Economy/ Banking Awareness, Reasoning & Computer Aptitude, Data Analysis & Interpretation are the various subjects for the mains or paper 2 exams. A time limit will be set for section-wise or paper-wise. So, the candidates must finish the exams on time otherwise they will lose the chance of scoring high marks.

Tip #2: Prepare a Time Table and Complete the Syllabus Topic-wise

You need to spend a minimum of 6 hours a day for studies. Prepare a timetable which you can cope up with. Fix a time to study. Follow the timetable as it will help to set your body clock and you can concentrate more during that time.

You must prepare a study plan to cover the subject topic-wise. First, focus on topics which you already know and later you can study the difficult topics. Because studying the difficult topics initially may consume more time, and it may create unnecessary stress. Make use of shortcut methods and improve your speed and accuracy.

Tip #3: Make use of online study materials

As you have opted for self-study, make use of free online resources available on the web. Reading articles, books, current affairs improves your skill. You can also get pdf of books on various educational platforms. Select your subjects, download and start working, and do not procrastinate for your preparation. Various free online mock tests are also available and you can make use of them after you have completed your preparation. Practise well and also solve all the questions.

Tip #4: Practise and Attempt the Mock Test Series

After preparing well and revising the topics, attempt to take mock tests. Mock tests will help you understand your preparation level for the actual exam. The mock tests also help in time management. The online mock tests will display your scores. Depending on the scores you can further enhance and improve your preparation skills. If u get a low score, don’t lose hope. Move on. Practice more. While answering the mock test if you find a question difficult, skip it and go to the next one. In this way, you can save time and solve more questions.

Tip #5: Solve Previous Year Question Papers

Last but not the least, you must solve lots of previous year question papers. Solving question papers helps to know how many questions you will get from different topics. You will also know the frequently repeated topics and rare topics. This exercise will give you an exact idea about the pattern in which the questions may appear for this year.

Conclusion:

Now I have provided all the details regarding Self-Study Plan to Crack the Bank Exams In First Attempt. Hope this will help you. If you have any doubts or queries, you can comment in the below section and I will get back to you at the earliest.
